Founded in London in 1909, Ernest West & Beynon has an extensive track record of developing innovative solutions for clients across multiple sectors. As a specialist commercial refrigeration company, it is still a privately owned independent limited company and was purchased by the present owner’s family in 1939.
With a history of delivering provisions plants for the Royal Navy dating back to the 1940’s, the company is well acquainted with the strict technical requirements of a Royal Navy ship and the harsh operating conditions of the marine environment.
Having used Bitzer compressors and components for over 30 years, Ernest West & Beynon relies on their quality, efficiency, reliability and continuous development to meet the everchanging demands. Over this period the team at Ernest West & Beynon has worked closely with the Bitzer UK team from the tendering phase into detailed design, manufacturing and commissioning of the equipment.
Joining Bitzer Marine Service Network was only a natural extension of a successful relationship started decades ago. It enables Ernest West & Beynon to deliver the highest standards of quality throughout the products lifespan starting from design, through manufacturing and into commissioning and lifelong maintenance and servicing.
Following detailed discussions regarding the overall framework an in-depth initial audit was conducted at our headquarters in Paddock Wood. Its aim was to ensure the Company meets Bitzer’s high standards regarding customer care (including maximum response time), staffing (including minimum levels, skills, competences, continuous development), tools and equipment, evidence of compliance with the statutory and other requirements.
With a functional ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, we were able to provide adequate evidence to support our claim of meeting Bitzer’s standards, with audit being completed successfully. Having now signed the Marine Service Network Partner Agreement, Ernest West & Beynon can reassure its customers of unfettered access to Bitzer’s full range of compressors, spare parts and system components specially designed and optimized for use in a marine environment.
With a long history of servicing refrigeration equipment on ships in all His Majesty’s Naval Bases (Portsmouth, Devonport, Clyde) Ernest West & Beynon can deploy at very short notice a team of experienced engineers dedicated to providing top-notch maintenance services. Be it in the UK or overseas (New York, Gibraltar, Cape Town to name a few of the calls previously attended) our engineers will ensure preventive or reactive maintenance is carried out to the highest industry standards ensuring equipment availability and reliability.
